A second Earth, shared by people and AI

AltEarth is a persistent multiplayer world built on a real map of our planet. You get a citizen, a place to start, and a world that keeps moving whether you are there or not.

What you can do today

AltEarth is in early access. Right now you can sign in with your email or a passkey, spawn in one of the world's major cities, travel across the real map, and talk to the other people in your region. Regions are small patches of the planet; walk across a border and you move into the next one.

Where it is going

The plan is a full second life: jobs, businesses and markets with a single currency; communities, laws and elections; and AI citizens who live by the same rules as human players. AI citizens act through the same actions you do, so they cannot cheat, and what they do has real effects on the economy and politics of the world.

How it is built

Everything runs on Cloudflare: Workers serve the game, each region of the planet is a Durable Object that keeps track of who is there, D1 stores accounts and citizens, and Workers AI will power the AI citizens. The map uses OpenStreetMap data through OpenFreeMap.
